A multi-car accident on the George Washington Bridge is causing massive delays.

A multi-car accident that killed one person continues to cause massive delays on the George Washington Bridge. Commuters who normally take that route were advised to find alternatives.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said a car collided with a truck at 5:20 a.m. on the westbound upper level. The car driver was killed and his passenger was injured. The passenger was rushed to Hackensack Medical Center. Her condition wasn't immediately known.

All lanes on the upper level outbound are now open after having been shut down earlier this morning with cars backed up all the way past Roselle.

Inbound delays are also being reported with up to one-hour delays just to get onto the bridge. One man in a car reported waiting two hours in traffic and another man said he had to wait for a bus for nearly an hour. Both called work to explain they'd be delayed.
