Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was released from jail to cheers from throngs of fans after being charged with disorderly conduct.
That darn cat!
“Jersey Shore’s” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has reportedly been denied a request to trademark her nickname in print because an equally orange kitty named Snooky already has his claws on it.
Polizzi’s not-so nom de guerre holds a “likelihood of confusion” with the main character of the 2004 tome “Adventures of Snooky,” according to U.S. Parent and Trademark Office records dug up by The Smoking Gun website.
According to the book’s publisher, Snooky’s adventures begin when he is knocked overboard a boat while on a fishing trip.
“Join Snooky as he makes many new friends searching for his family under the sea. Find out what happens when Snooky’s new friends run into danger. Can he help save them? Will Snooky ever find his lost family?” reads the publisher’s description, per the Smoking Gun.
"I had a couple cocktails and they just put me in a drunk tank to sober me up,” Snooki said after spending a few hours in jail earlier this month. “I was a public nuisance — big deal!"
As for her trademark issue, all hope isn’t lost.
Polizzi could still appeal the book decision, and her application to use “Snooki” for “entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality” will likely be approved, according to the Smoking Gun.
And that’s nothing to hiss about.
