Man Killed After Jumping From Moving Car on Grand Central Parkway, Running Through Traffic: NYPD

A 54-year-old man was killed after he jumped out of a moving car on a Queens highway Tuesday afternoon and was hit by a van while running through traffic, police say.

The man was driving a 2014 Mercedes on the Grand Central Parkway when police say he jumped out of the moving car.

Police say the man then ran across the Grand Central Parkway’s westbound lanes, while his car crashed into a center median.

He then tried to cross over to the northbound lanes of the Cross Island Parkway nearby, but was hit by a 2005 Ford van. The van’s driver stayed at the scene, and police were called to the scene.

The man was then taken to North Shore Hospital, where police say he was pronounced dead.

It’s not clear why the man jumped out of his vehicle.

No charges have been filed, and an investigation is ongoing.
