How much do you need to earn to rent in New York City?
Real estate site StreetEasy took a look at median asking rents across neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens to determine just that.
Most landlords require tenants to earn at least 40 times the monthly rent, according to StreetEasy. What they found was that most households do not earn enough to afford the average apartment.
