Police say an armed robber who fatally shot a Madison Avenue jewelry store worker made off with nearly $1 million worth of sapphires, diamonds, emeralds and other jewels.

A sketch has been released of the suspect, who fired once and killed 71-year-old Henry Menahem in the brazen robbery Wednesday. The gunman remains on the loose. Police also recovered a box on Thursday with a Faberge-style egg, though not one of the original famous eggs.

Police have released pictures and a list of all the items that are still missing with their values.

Menahem was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead after the robbery at the posh R.S. Durant store at 962 Madison Ave.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact CrimeStoppers at 877-TIPS.
