Human bones were confirmed to be inside a decades-old casket that was dug up and found dumped on the street near a cemetery in Brooklyn, authorities say.
Police tweeted that "nobody knows" who dumped the casket on Piling Street in Bushwick, not far from The Evergreens Cemetery. They also don't know where it came from.
There were a few bones in the coffin, but no body. The medical examiner's office later determined the bones were from a human hand and foot.
Police were called to the scene Tuesday evening. They said it appeared the casket had been buried 25 years ago.
