Grand Central Subway Platform Briefly Cleared After Suspicious Package Report: Witness

Trains on the 4, 5 and 6 lines briefly bypassed Grand Central Terminal on Wednesday morning as police investigated reports of a suspicious package, and at least one straphanger reported seeing heavily armed police clearing the platform amid the scare.

Trains began bypassing the station at about 8:30 a.m. due to the police activity, the MTA announced. Trains got moving again about 10 minutes later, but residual delays were expected.

One straphanger who was on the platform tweeted that officers with long guns and tactical gear cleared out the station.
