FOURSOME: Richard Lester’s A Hard Day’s Night turns 45 (45!) this year, and the Beatle flick is worth big-screen viewing for the tunes, the hair, the images of a time before Twitter, and the realization that narrative music video as a form pretty much begins here. It’s certainly worth slipping out of work early for: MoMA, 4:30PM.
THE EDGE: Some days you want Haendel at the Met, and some days you want to venture out to the wilds of Sunset Park and hear avant-garde music by the ikes of wunder-cellist Ha-Yang Kim. She performs at Issue Project Room at the Old American Can Factory, 8PM.
MOTLEY CREW: So Rue McClanahan, Caroline Rhea and Will & Grace’s Leslie Jordan walk into a bar. The bar is Comix, and the event is The Sordid Comedy Affair Tour. Also on hand: Del Shores, the playwright whose cult show Sordid Lives is the night’s inspiration. 8PM.
