This week, designer Isaac Mizrahi debuted a line bridal gowns that will be sold exclusively at New York City's go-to bridal store, Kleinfeld.
The best pieces in the collection weren't traditional white bridal gowns. A standout was this black gown with a sweetheart neckline, and pink ribbon waist.
It's fitting that Mizrahi is debuting a full line of bridal gowns now, since the designer wed his longtime boyfriend early this year.
The designer has also long had a bridal appeal. He famously dressed Rachel Zoe for her 1997 wedding in a white princess gown with long sleeves.
There are 15 dresses and gowns in the debut Spring 2013 collection, which will be priced between $2,500 and $6,000.
This isn't Mizrahi's first dip into bridal. He released a capsule collection for The Aisle last year -- possibly as a way of testing the waters.
The runway show for the debut was set against a black and white gingham backdrop, with massive 3-D black and white flowers hanging overhead.
Mizrahi put a lot of emphasis on the back of his gowns -- some featured buttons going up the back, while others featured tied corseted backs.
The best moments in the collection were the ones that telegraphed classic Mizrahi -- including this pink gingham gown with a lace overlay.
Mizrahi has long had a fascination with 1950s couture shapes, evident in this perfect short black and white dress.
Other details in the collection include floral brooches and lots of bead work.
Mizrahi covered all the bases in terms of wedding dress silhouettes with this collection -- princess gowns, trumpet skirts and short silhouettes that have been catching steam in bridal wear in recent years.
This black and white lace dress was one of the standout below-the-knee silhouettes in the collection.
The show's color palette was white, black and pink. If there is one big trend to come out of this bridal fashion week, it's that getting married no longer necessarily means wearing white.
This bridal collection is just the latest for Mizrahi when it comes to brand expansion. He is also releasing a line of baby clothes this fall.
