Highlights From Milan Fashion Week

The most noteworthy events from the week that was in Milan, from Piazza Sempione's 20th anniversary capsule collection to Salvatore Ferragamo's jewelry launch.

Editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour and Editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani hosted The Vogue Fashion Fund 'Who Is On Next?' event during Milan fashion week to highlight the work of emerging talent. The awards, similar to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, were held at Palazzo Morando and featured the work of Greek designer Angelos Bratis and shoe designer Alessio Spinelli, among others.

Designer Philipp Plein (pictured) announced that Lindsay Lohan would be the face of his Spring 2012 campaign. The troubled actress was reportedly being kicked out of Marc Jacobs' after-party, but apparently she can still get work in Milan. Plein said at a press conference, "Lindsay is a beautiful, highly acclaimed actress and model. We will be able to create unique images: Refined and luxurious, but also full of sensuality.”
White, one of the largest contemporary trade shows in Milan, hosted six emerging talents at the White Lounge this season including Altewai Saome, Augustin Teboul and Mirit Weinstock. It is all part of Milan fashion week's increasing effort to highlight new talent.

Louis Vuitton unveiled an exhibit titled "Louis Vuitton: The Art of Fashion" at design museum La Triennale curated by Katie Grand. The exhibit highlights the work of Vuttion Artistic Director Marc Jacobs, mixing pieces from various collections since 1998.

Salvatore Ferragamo launched its first range of jewelry during Milan fashion week in collaboration with Gianni Bulgari. The collection includes everything from silver cuffs with a futuristic logo to cabochon rings and will range in price from 300 to 15,000 euros.

Alexander Wang debuted a white version of his famed Rocco bag during Milan fashion week. Unfortunately for those in the US, the bag will only be available at London's Selfridges department store and Milan's Antonioli boutique.
Shoe maker Alberto Guardiani and i-D magazine promoted Cinderthriller, five short trailers shot in cities from Paris to Rio, to announce its search for the next great shoe designer. The ten selected submissions will be presented to a judging panel that includes Anna Dello Russo and Lane Crawford President Georgina Goodman, with a winner to be announced next year.

Design duo Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi debuted Piazza Sempione's 20th anniversary capsule collection. The designers will stay on as the brand's new designers, and their first official collection for the label will be for fall 2012.

Trussardi celebrated its 100th anniversary during Milan fashion week with Umit Benan's debut as creative director, followed by a performance from Martin Creed held at the Sforza Castle.
Famed photographer Bruce Weber debuted a 24-minute video, "Don't Steal the Jacket," created in collaboration with Moncler about a little girl, her Pomeranian, Sugar, and of course, a Moncler jacket.
