Hempstead Police Looking for Suspect in Hammer Attack

A Long Island woman is on the mend after being beaten with a hammer in July.

Police say her attacker was a man she hired as a handyman after meeting him at a Home Depot store in Hempstead on July 24.

After fixing the victim’s toilet, the suspect allegedly became angry after the victim complained about his work and began striking the woman with his hammer, leaving multiple fractures, cops said.

Nassau County Police say the suspect fled after the attack and has not been arrested. But DNA evidence left at the scene also appears to link him to a rape case in Texas, authorities said.
