Robbery Suspects Lead Cops on Wild Chase Through Queens Neighborhood, Taking Out Cars and Slamming Into House: NYPD

Three armed suspects in a Verizon store robbery in Queens led police on a wild chase through a residential neighborhood Wednesday, crashing into several cars and a house before they got out of the car and started running, police and witnesses say.

Two of the three suspects were later captured.

Police said officers responding to a call for three armed, masked robbers at a Verizon store on Northern Boulevard saw the suspects take off in a white van around 8 p.m. and pursued them.

The chase took them through Willets Point Boulevard. Witnesses said they saw a white van tearing through the street, crashing into cars along the way before it slammed into a house. The suspects then took off on foot.

"When the van hit one of these cars, the guy actually got out and ran after the perpetrators, I guess, with the cops and tried to catch them," said Freddie LoPiccolo, who lives a block away.

"Everybody was running, it was chaos. You see how many cars he crashed into in the meantime," he said. "It was insane."

The suspects were captured about a block away, and two were arrested, according to police. Xavier Oneal, 20, and Andrew Taylor, 38, were charged with robbery, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and menacing, police said.

It was not immediately known if they had attorneys.

Police said one man is still on the run.

"I've been here 50 years, I've never seen anything like this in our neighborhood," said LoPiccolo.

There was no immediate report of any injuries.
