Two adults and a young girl were killed early Saturday when a fast-moving fire severely damaged a single-family home in central New Jersey.
Toms River fire officials say the victims -- whose bodies were found inside the two-story home -- apparently were related. But their identities were not released, pending notification of relatives.
The fire was reported around 6:40 a.m., and emergency crews arrived on scene a few minutes later. A police officer soon found the man's body near the front door, while firefighters found the other two victims on the second floor -- the child was under a bed, the woman in a bathroom.
Police Lt. Steven Gerding said the cause of the fire was not immediately known. Investigators and firefighters remained on the scene early Saturday afternoon.
