Ledger's Oscar Goes to His Daughter
Matilda will inherit her father's award when she turns 18.

Heath Ledger's Oscar will finally make its way to his daughter Matilda after his father, mother and sister accepted it on his behalf.
The Academy has confirmed that it will send Heath Ledger's Oscar to Michelle Williams for safe keeping until their daughter, Matilda, reaches the age of 18.
This finally settles the debate on the ownership of the Oscar, according to the Herald Sun. Ownership of the award was in question after comments made by Ledger's father, Kim, last month when he accepted the prize at the Academy Awards.
"She can't sign for it until she's 18, so it stays in trust here or in Australia," Kim Ledger said of his three-year-old granddaughter at a press conference in Hollywood's Kodak Theater, according to the Herald Sun.
Under Academy rules posthumous Oscars go to the next of kin. The Academy expects to have the Oscar delivered Sunday to Williams once the engraving is completed.
Ledger won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role last month and swept almost every competition for his role as the Joker in "The Dark Knight." The Golden Globe was sent to Ledger's publicists in New York who also represent Williams, according to the Herald Sun. The Screen Actors Guild award he won in January still sits without an owner as the necessary paperwork has not been completed, according to the site.
