Today, Club Monaco officially launches e-commerce on Shopbop. And last night? One-hundred-plus fashion bloggers and tweeters hit the preppy-chic chain's 57th street store to celebrate.
Shopbop fashion director Kate Ciepluch curated the 24-piece capsule collection, available for purchase in-store and online.
"Shopbop is very buy-now, wear-now, and we wanted to make sure to reach out to that community," said Shopbop co-founder Alle Fister.
Ciepluch's on-trend picks -- among them, sandals and shorts styled with above-the-knee socks and showy leopard fedoras -- weren't the sort of stuff you'd expect to see in Club Monaco mall stores, but exactly the mix that fashion blogs (and bloggers) love.
"I buy a lot from both, but didn't see how the two would go together," said Effortless Anthropologie blogger Roxy Domber. "I thought, 'I'll show up and see what's up.' I'm glad that I did -- trends like longer lengths and layers really work here and within the collection."
The Fab Chick's Mischa Palmer echoed Domber's sentiments, predicting that if more brands reached the larger blogosphere that they'd find a welcome, responsive audience -- and plenty of retweets.
"I'm already on both sites all of the time," said Palmer, eyeing a faux fur vest for her interactive photo booth session. "And I'm always up to meet other fashion bloggers, so I knew that this was something I'd cover."
