    Netflix Leads all Nominees for NAACP Image Awards

    Netflix has received 42 nominations for next month’s 51st NAACP Image Awards. The streaming service led the television category with 30 nominations with an additional 12 in film. Many of Netflix’s nominations were for the Ava DuVernay-directed limited series “Whey They See Us” and “Dolemite is My Name.”

    Jay-Z to Receive Special Honor at NAACP Image Awards

    Jay-Z will receive the President’s Award during the 50th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday. The NAACP announced Thursday it selected the 49-year-old rapper and entrepreneur for “shedding light on the issues that plague the black community including systematic racism and unjust treatment under the law.”

    Rutgers University Names Queen Latifah, Anita Hill as Commencement Speakers

    Anita Hill and New Jersey’s own Queen Latifah have been named keynote speakers for two of Rutgers University’s commencement ceremonies in May, the school announced Wednesday.  The actress, rapper and producer Queen Latifah will deliver the commencement address for Rutgers University-Newark at Prudential Center on May 14.
