BMW Driver Missing Half His Tires Accused of Drugged Driving on Long Island

A 31-year-old man was charged with drugged driving after swerving across lanes on the Northern State Parkway near the Wantagh State Parkway on Tuesday morning, police said, adding half his vehicle was missing tires.

The BMW that Richard Rider, of Oceanside, was driving did not have tires on the passenger side of the car, authorities said.

Rider showed obvious signs of impairment, and a search of the BMW yielded narcotic prescription pills, envelopes containing heroin, a hypodermic needle, and a scale, police said.

He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and other offenses. It wasn't clear if he had retained an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
