The New York State Fairgrounds' brand new Exposition Center will open for the first time as part of the 2018 Great New York State Fair. The 136,000-square-foot-structure is part of Governor Cuomo's $120 million renovation plan to revitalize the State Fair.

During the Fair, the Expo Center will be home to hundreds of trade show booths as well as a temporary ice rink that will feature hockey, figure skating and even a wedding on ice. One lucky couple will be chosen at random from comments posted to the Fair's Facebook contest post to tie the knot in a unique setting on Saturday, September 1. The Fair will provide an officiant to conduct the wedding ceremony, a photographer and a catered hors d'oeuvres and cocktail reception in the mezzanine of the Expo Center for up to 50 guests. To sweeten the deal even more, the Fair will throw in a pair of Lifetime Passes as a first wedding gift.

For those who appreciate unique art forms, the Fair will have its 50th Annual Butter Sculpture on display. Created by American Dairy Association North East, the new sculpture will be sponsored by Wegmans Food Markets. If butter isn't your preferred form of dairy, a cheese sculptor will also be on site carving images out of a block of New York State white cheddar at the Cheese Booth on select days.
Visitors will be able to enjoy free performances at the Chevy Court Stage as part of their fair admission tickets. This year's performers include Niall Horan, Smokey Robinson, Hanson, Maren Morris, Lil Yachty and more. The full schedule can be found here.
