Lucky Borough? 2 Staten Islanders Hit Same Lotto Jackpot

Eduardo Reyes and Rigoberto Mejia Mendoza both won the Golden Ticket scratch-off game recently

A Staten Island diner chef is more than $4 million richer thanks to a Golden Ticket lotto scratch-off -- the same lotto game another Staten Islander hit it big on in December 2015.

Eduardo Reyes, 50, bought his winning ticket at a liquor store on Forest Avenue in Staten Island and hit a $7,000,000 jackpot, according to the New York State Lottery. After withholdings, Reyes will take home $4,362,280.

“I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me,” Reyes told the New York Lottery. “I’m still in shock.”

In late December, lottery officials announced that a construction company owner from Staten Island hit the same $7,000,000 jackpot on the same scratch-off game.

Rigoberto Mejia Mendoza bought his winning Golden Ticket scratch-off card at the Forest Bagels on Forest Avenue in West Brighton during his lunch break.

He claimed his multi-million dollar prize on Dec. 2, 2015.
