An 18-year-old high school student has been arrested, accused of raping a classmate in the basement of their Queens school, police say.
The student, Oliver Chatelaine, is facing charges of rape, sexual misconduct, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Police say he assaulted the 16-year-old victim in the basement of Humanities and Arts Magnet High School in Cambria Heights Tuesday morning.
The victim notified school safety officers, and Chatelaine turned himself in to police at the 105th Precinct stationhouse later that day, police said.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Education said in a statement, "The safety of students and staff always comes first, and this disturbing incident was immediately reported and is being investigated. We are working in close partnership with the NYPD and will ensure appropriate follow-up action is swiftly taken."
