A Brooklyn man was charged with kidnapping his 19-year-old girlfriend in Elmont, authorities said.
At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Arturo Gurley, 20, convinced his girlfriend to get out of her car, grabbed her belongings, including her cellphone, and shoved her in the trunk, police said. Gurley then drove the car for about 45 minutes before stopping and letting the victim out of the trunk, police said.
Gurley led her into his Fort Greene apartment and stuffed a sock in her mouth, duct-taping it shut, police said. The victim was in the apartment for four to five hours before being released. She was not physically harmed, police said.
She drove her car home and called police.
Gurley was charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, obstruction of breathing, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead, and is being held under $150,000 bail.
