NJ Shipping Terminal Shut Down After Person Is Hit By Tractor-Trailer: Officials

Incoming traffic to the Global Container Terminal in Bayonne was shut down Thursday

A port terminal in New Jersey was shut down Thursday morning after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer, authorities said.

Operations halted at the Global Container Terminal in Bayonne after the pedestrian was hit and killed at about 10:30 a.m., according to a Port Authority spokesman.

Incoming traffic was suspended for the day after the fatality, the spokesman said.

Chopper 4 footage from the scene shows several police crowded around a traffic lane at the terminal. 

It's not clear what led to the fatality.
