Conn. Immigrant Advocates Seek Path to Citizenship

Community leaders are gathering Saturday afternoon at the United Congregational Church of Bridgeport for a discussion of immigration reform

Immigrant advocates from around Connecticut are calling on elected officials to help create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

Community leaders are gathering Saturday afternoon at the United Congregational Church of Bridgeport for a discussion of immigration reform.

They have collected dozens of letters from community members asking members of Connecticut's congressional delegation to provide leadership on the issue.

The groups involved include Connecticut Students for a DREAM, United Latino an Accion and the Brazilian Immigrant Center in Bridgeport.

Camila Bortolleto of the students' group says they are calling on leaders to pass legislation that "keeps families together and upholds our values of fairness and opportunity.''
