A 32-year-old woman was found dead in a Bronx alleyway Wednesday morning with a gunshot wound to the head, officials say.
Police swarmed the scene on White Plains Road in the Wakefield neighborhood at about 8 a.m. after getting 911 calls and found Sarisse Respass dead.
"She was a sweetheart," said neighbor Carl Wilson. "She was very kind. She was cool with everybody. Never no problems."
Wilson said he heard loud banging outside the apartment building about 2 or 3 in the morning, but he didn't know what was happening.
Crowds gathered through the day, wondering who pulled the trigger. A woman who said she was a friend of Respass was in shock.
"I'm anxious, I'm upset. I don't know," said the woman, who didn't want to give her name.
Police have not made an arrest.
