A 25-year-old man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a Rutgers University student in Newark, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Marcus Feliz has been charged with murder and other offenses, the Essex County prosecutor's office said. He's being held on $750,000 bail.
Shani Patel, 21, of Toms River was fatally shot around 10 p.m. Sunday. His 23-year-old roommate also was shot and is in stable condition.
The double shooting occurred inside an off-campus apartment near Rutgers' Newark campus. Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said Wednesday that Feliz is not affiliated with the university.
It wasn't immediately clear if Feliz had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
