A 12-year-old boy was shot and killed as he walked home from a corner store in Connecticut Tuesday night, authorities say.
The child, identified by family as Clinton Howell, was hit at least twice in front of his own home on Willow Street in Bridgeport just after 9 p.m., according to police.
His shocked sister described the moment her baby brother died in her arms:"I look and then my brother was bleeding on the floor, he was just laying there, and I told him to wake up. I told him to stay with me."
Police said they do not believe the boy was the intended target.
"Why my son? He don't trouble nobody," his father said. "He's a good kid."
Detectives are working on several leads, including a vehicle possibly involved in the shooting, according to police.
The police chief said Wednesday, "I can't bring him back. But I'm sure gonna get justice for him and his family."
His family said Howell was a lovable seventh-grader who loved video games and never got into trouble.
Howell's death marks Bridgeport's 11th homicide this year.
