Vena Cava designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Maycock hosted a preview of the upcoming Vena Cava for Aqua line at Bloomingdale's, showing off the exclusive collection for fall.n
n
nThe spirit of Vena Cava still shines through each utterly wearable piece, bringing a good sense of the brand to Aqua's much wider market. The prices also open up the label to the masses, ranging between $98 for a lace-detail tee to $198 for a crisply tailored jacket.

We caught up with Lisa Maycock at the presentation, who, along with Buhai was modeling an outfit from the line. "The prints we did, like this print that I'm wearing and the one Sophie has on are both inspired by the Wiener Werkstätte, which was an Austrian design movement--they were contemporaries of the Bauhaus--and their forms were very graphic and geometric, but also very elegant at the same time."

A color palette of gray, navy and blush pink with a touch of army green, on fabrics like silk, velvet and lace make for a soft, romantic vibe that's undercut with just enough of the designers' signature edge.

While dresses and skirts dominate the collection, the tailored pieces are certainly standouts, including tailored trousers with zip-up hems and an angular, toned-down Sergeant Pepper-style jacket.

Hooray for statement skirts for fall! We adored the Vena Cava for Aqua mini with flapper-like tiers of glittery fringe and the smart and sweet pleated A-line.

Cinched waists, oh-so-slight ruffles and diaphanous draping made for dresses to fawn over.

Grecian-style one-shoulder cocktail dresses, gentle color blocking and almost-crushed blue velvet defined the dancer-like grace to the collection.

Despite the heat, we would love to dive right into the feathery faux-fur vest (that's a mere $188!) and smart little shorts that are quintessential Vena Cava.

We also got to watch the adorable behind-the-scenes video of the designers working with the team on the campaign photo shoot, set to the cheerful hipster tunes of Here We Go Magic. It goes live on the microsite tomorrow.

The Vena Cava for Aqua logo is a hand-drawn spiral maze tagged with a "you are here" at the center. We will, indeed, be there when the line drops September 1.
