Part outwear and part layering piece, capes and capelets can seem intimidating without a bit of style guidance. For this look, we paired United Bamboo's cable-knit jumper with built-in cape sleeves ($431 at La Garconne) with Christian Wijnant's mens-inspired trousers ($190 at Creatures of Comfort) and a classic plaid scarf. For a touch of color, we added Zara's red clutch ($50 at Zara). A pair of J.Crew's classic Macalister booties ($198 at J.Crew) keep the look comfy and cool.

This boho-chic ensemble centers around Missoni's statement-making zigzag cape ($843 at Stylebop), which we layered over a simple tank dress from T by Alexander Wang ($159 at Alexander Wang). A cool beaded necklace ($68 at Anthropologie) compliments the cape's oral and lilac motif, while a slouchy boho bag ($90 at Zara) and classic black loafers ($34 at Urban Outfitters) keep the look grounded.

J.Crew's mod-inspired white cape ($400 at Net-a-Porter) pairs perfectly with a Rachel Comey's cheerful coral sundress ($472 at Creatures of Comfort) and a pair of quirky leopard pumps from Topshop ($110 at Topshop). To finish the look, we added sassy shades by Karen Walker ($180 at Creatures of Comfort) and a bold, coral lip ($12 at Topshop).

Wren's playful leopard-print capelet ($649 at Farfetch) adds a generous dose of personality to a classic camel turtleneck ($270 at J.Crew) and trim pencil skirt ($8.50 at Forever 21). To center focus on the leopard, we kept accessories minimal: a small, colorful pendant from Anthropologie ($328 at Anthropologie) and comfy leather boots($40 at Zara).

This retro, Veruschka-inspired ensemble centers around a classic black capelet by Michael Kors ($948 at the Outnet) and a simple, pleated shirt dress from Topshop ($100 at Topshop). For a hint of vintage flair, we added a fuzzy chapeau by Gilly Forge ($99 at Barneys) and long leather Marni gloves ($140 at the Outnet). Marc Jacobs' quirky Mary Janes ($595 at La Garconne) give the look a youthful appeal.
