GREENPOINT— The Robs report that Jamie Scott McCormick the owner of East Village coffee shop Abraço will be opening a roasting plant in Greenpoint in the next three months. The space will be large enough to also hold a kitchen, where he can make breads, cookies, and cakes for his East Village storefront. [GS]

MIDTOWN— Starting Tuesday, June 23rd, Emily Wines, master sommelier and wine director of Midtown's NIOS will host a series of weekly "Sommelier Smackdowns" where she will challenge cocktail pros including Jim Meehan, Joe Campanale, and Laura Maniec to wine pairing duels. Smackdowns begin at 6 p.m. every Tuesday. Reservations are $55 per person. [EaterWire]
