A woman is under evaluation at a Brooklyn hospital after police say she beat her son to death, then tried to commit suicide.
Police say the 40-year-old woman called 911 Friday night, saying she killed her son and took pills.
When police arrived at the woman's apartment on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant , they found a 9-year-old boy lying unconscious in his bed with trauma to his head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His mother was taken into custody and brought to Woodhull Hospital for evaluation. She has not been arrested.
Both mother and son have not been identified, pending proper family notification.
