Man Chokes Woman in Elevator, Tries to Sexually Assault Her: Cops

Police are looking for a 27-year-old man accused of punching, choking and trying to sexually assault a Queens woman inside her apartment’s elevator earlier this week.

The suspect followed the 53-year-old woman into her building’s elevator in the Astoria neighborhood, police say, and punched and choked her. The attacker then allegedly tried to sexually assault the woman before leaving the scene.

The woman was taken to an area hospital.

Police say they’ve identified Elvis McKenzie in the attack.

Anyone with information about McKenzie's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
