More Charges for Former College Softball Coach: Report

The 43-year-old former coach of a women’s college softball team, accused of inappropriately kissing and touching several players, is facing six more counts of sex-related charges, reports the Bergen Record.

Kurt Ludwigsen, who coached softball at Nyack College, was charged last week with more than 90 counts of inappropriate behavior towards players while he was with the team.

The additional charges were announced at Ludwigsen’s arraignment on Monday evening. His attorney, David Goldstein, waived a reading of the charges and entered a not guilty plea on Ludwigsen’s behalf, according to the Record.

Police say Ludwigsen touched the breasts and buttocks of several players and kissed some of them, reports the Record. He allegedly did so without consent.

The former coach's wife, Ann Ludwigsen, was "shocked" to learn of the charges, according to a statement released Friday by her attorney at Newsome O'Donnell Family Law, Carmen Diaz-Duncan.

"She was wholly unaware of the circumstances surrounding the allegations and is learning the facts of this matter as they unfold," Diaz-Duncan said in the statement. "My client's ultimate concern is the well-being of her children."

Nyack College said it learned of the coach's alleged interactions with players after a team trip to Arizona on March 13.

The school's athletic director and senior woman administrator interviewed players and learned more about the alleged interactions, and Ludwigsen was fired immediately and taken to the airport.

The school said it and the students involved are cooperating with police in the investigation.

Ludwigsen is due back in court on May 11.
