2 Dead in Shootings in East Village, Washington Heights: Police

The men were killed hours apart in Manhattan, authorities said

Two men were shot and killed in separate Manhattan shootings overnight, police said. 

The first victim, 23-year-old Elliot Caldwell, was shot once in the back just before midnight Thursday on 12th Street near Avenue C in the East Village, authorities said. 

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

The second victim, 41-year-old Dejon McInnis, was shot in the leg at about midnight on West 157th Street in Washington Heights, according to police. 

He died after being transported to Harlem Hospital Center, authorities said. 

No arrests have been made in either shooting, police said.
