Acclaimed designer and couturier Giambattista Valli will become the latest top-tier designer to create a collection for Macy's Impulse contemporary department, bowing in November, WWD reports. Macy's declined to comment on the report.
Macy's new and ambitious designer inititiave kicked off with Kinder Aggugini, and was followed by a colorful Matthew Williamson this spring. The most blockbuster name added to the partnership recently was Karl Lagerfeld, who'll be filling the coveted back-to-school slot with a collection debuting September.
Valli (shown here at the Met Gala) has become best-known for his spectacular evening gowns, and recently announced he'll be showing a couture collection in July -- all of which signal the potential for an over-the-top collection of holiday dresses for the department store if the reports are accurate, where price points might be a real challenge.
