Umbrellas needed for a couple days before Halloween hands out dry, chilly day

Keep the umbrellas handy until Halloween

Well, we did it. Sunday's rainfall marked an eighth consecutive weekend of rain in New York City.

The rain was a bit of a shock on the heels of a record-breaking Saturday, which delivered surprisingly hot temperatures for this time of year.

The showers stick around Monday and bring temperatures back down to around normal, into the low to mid 60s.

Halloween looks to be quite seasonable, if not a bit chilly. Temperatures will stay in the 50s, so a jacket or some long sleeves may be called for underneath Halloween costumes to deal with the cooler and breezy conditions. But it should stay mostly dry.

It will be an even chillier to kick off November, with highs possibly not even getting out of the 40s (that's less than a week after highs possibly reaching the 80s). But again, at least it will be dry, albeit cold.

Skies will remain clear for the rest of the week after that, with temperatures in the mid 50s — with no days reaching the 60s in sight.
