NHL Game Summary – New Jersey at NY Islanders

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Zach Parise registered a goal and an assist, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum.

Travis Zajac and David Clarkson also tallied for the Devils, who improved to 4-1-0 thus far on a six-game road trip that ends Monday in Nashville. Scott Clemmensen made 32 saves to earn his 17th win.

Blake Comeau had the lone goal and Yann Danis stopped 33 shots for the woeful Islanders, who remain winless in 2009, dropping seven straight -- all in regulation -- since a December 31 home victory against Florida.

It has been a revolving door in the crease for the Isles, with injuries to Rick DiPietro (knee) and Joey MacDonald (groin). New York agreed to terms with Wade Dubielewicz two days ago to help its injury-riddled netminding corps. Dubielewicz was playing over in Russia and first had to be released from his Russian contract and then had to clear waivers in order to suit up for the club for whom he played parts of four seasons with through the end of the 2007-08 campaign.

However, the Columbus Blue Jackets snatched him off waivers earlier Saturday, forcing New York to recall Peter Mannino from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League to serve as the backup.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead on a misplay by Danis. With New York on the power play, Danis ventured behind his cage and had the puck taken away by Parise. Danis scrambled to get his stick on Parise's wraparound chance, but Zajac slammed the rebound into the open net at 6:06 of the opening frame.

New Jersey converted on the man advantage 57 seconds into the second period. Jamie Langenbrunner fired a wrister from the left circle that caught a piece of Danis and Parise was on the doorstep to bang in the rebound for his team-leading 26th goal of the season.

Clarkson gave the Devils a three-goal lead at 4:58 of the middle stanza, then Comeau spoiled Clemmensen's shutout bid and put the Isles on the board with 9:25 to play in regulation.
