NYC Subway Riders Freak Out as Rat Runs Wild on Train

A subway rat caused a ruckus on a Queens-bound A train last week.

A video posted to YouTube shows a bunch of straphangers on the train scrambling to avoid the rodent as it runs wild on the subway. The video shows riders standing on seats trying to avoid the little guy as it scurries back and forth.

As the rat tries to find its way out, screams of fear are heard as the rodent gets closer to some straphangers while others are heard laughing.

The poster of the video said in the description that he was riding the train with his wife when he saw others jumping and standing on seats.

“It was a fun ride for 1 station,” the description read. “The rat was really scared of all these crazy people screaming. On the next stop rat jumped out of the train.”

By early Tuesday, the video had more than 200,000 views and 82 comments.

It was just a couple weeks ago when a subway rider recorded two rats having a tug-of-war over a tasty scrap. And more recently a rat was seen dragging an avocado across the tracks at the Greenpoint Avenue stop in Brooklyn.
