6-Foot Black Racer Snake Removed From Long Island Home

A Medford resident frantically alerted a Suffolk County SPCA detective after finding a large snake in his garage on Wednesday.

The 6-foot black racer snake, which is indigenous to the area, was safely removed and then released in a wooded area.

The black racer is non-venomous.

Black racer snakes, also known as eastern racers, are typically found in open woodlands or along the edges of wetlands.
