Rutgers University has announced plans to raise $100 million for new or expanded athletic facilities.
Scarlet Knights athletic director Patrick Hobbs announced the campaign in a video sent to supporters of the university's sports programs Wednesday evening.
Hobbs says he, football coach Chris Ash and basketball coach Eddie Jordan are donating $50,000 to provide state-of-the-art practice centers for basketball, wrestling, volleyball and gymnastics plus key support areas for football, lacrosse, soccer and tennis.
Hobbs says every coach and senior administrator plans to make a pledge to the R Big Ten Build program.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie this week signed a law that will enable Rutgers to make use of up to $25 million in tax credits to finance the construction.
