NYC Teen Pleads Not Guilty to Murder in Park Shooting

A Westchester County teenager has pleaded not guilty to a murder indictment in connection with the shooting of a college student in a park.

Acting District Attorney James A. McCarty says Stivenson Desir of New Rochelle also faces weapon charges in the April 3 death of Brandon Lawrence. He appeared in court Tuesday.

The DA says the victim and the defendant - both 19 - had attended a party hours earlier at off-campus housing.

The victim, an Iona College freshman from Yonkers, was found dead on a ball field at Lincoln Park in New Rochelle.

The defendant did not attend the school.

His attorney, Allen Poperelli, calls the allegations "very serious" and "troubling." He declined to comment further.
