Police in Suffolk County are looking for two masked men responsible for a home invasion robbery and shooting, authorities said.
Police said two men entered a house on Greenbrier Lane in Sayville Sunday night through an unlocked door. The armed robbers took cellphones, jewelry and cash from a small group gathered inside the house playing cards, according to police.
When the robbers were leaving, they encountered a man who was getting ready to go into the house. One of the masked men had a handgun and shot the man twice.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. It was not clear how much money was taken from the 11 victims sitting at the table.
A search is underway for the men responsible but police are saying they believe the house was targeted — and it wasn't the first time the house had been hit. Suffolk Police said the same house was burglarized in 2010, in a very similar manner.
"It was a very similar incident. There were two suspects involved, they came into the house, the proceeds were similar: cellphones, jewelry and cash. So we're certainly going to take a look at that incident," said Suffolk Det. Lt. Anthony Calandrillo.

Police are looking into reports that the home was a regular gambling spot. No one at the house on Monday wished to speak to reporters.
