1. Lopez Wins Vanguard Award as New Mom Cardi B Opens VMAs

Jennifer Lopez, who earned the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for lifetime achievement, provided the night's most energetic performance. She started off slow — Kylie Jenner and Scott's unamused faces perfectly captured the vibe — but she hit a strong stride when she sang old smashes like "Jenny from the Block," ''I'm Real" — where Ja Rule joined her onstage — and "All I Have," which showed the skilled dancer's vocal range.

Then the backlash was swift for Madonna's rambling, egocentric tribute to Aretha Franklin. Dressed in flowing black with grandiose flourishes of African jewelry, Madonna's send-off came before she presented the video of the year award to Camila Cabello on Monday night. She spoke at length about her own start in the business and her own career before thanking Franklin for "empowering all of us. R.E.S.P.E.C.T."

2. NYC Insta Model Acts as Self-Appointed ‘Bachelorette’ in Tinder Scam

These men should have swiped left. 

Over the weekend, a group of men arrived in Union Square thinking they were going to catch a DJ set with a Tinder date, but instead they got duped. 

Dozens of men matched with a woman named Natasha, who would then set up a date. It turned out she reveled to them they were tricked into a massive dating competition.

3. Goats Take Subway Tracks (to Work?) in Brooklyn

Now this isn't your average subway delay. 

Two goats were caught roaming the above-ground subway tracks in Brooklyn near Greenwood Cemetery on Monday. 

Though the two goats-on-the-lam forced trains to reroute, they were tranquilized a short time later and were taken to an animal shelter.
