1. Medical Waste Washes Up on East Atlantic Beach in Hempstead Town: Cops

Hypodermic needles and other medical waste washed ashore a popular Long Island beach, officials said.

The medical waste was discovered on East Atlantic Beach in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

At least 35 needles washed up, amid about 50 to 60 medical waste items.

Officials closed the beach between Troy Avenue and Beach Street to investigate and clean up. The beach would remain closed all day, but reopened over the weekend.

2. Woman Pulled From Water 10 Hours After Falling Off Cruise Ship

A British woman fell off a cruise ship over the weekend as it was heading to Italy. 

The woman was pulled from the water 10 hours later and she was alive and well. 

Officials say the warm water she was found in helped her survive.

3. VMA Awards Are Monday Night at Radio City Music Hall

The Video Music Awards are Monday. 

The red carpet will roll out for this year's MTV's VMA awards. Crews have been setting up for days outside of Radio City Music Hall, where the show will be held. 

Cardi B, Ariana Grande and even the Backstreet Boys are scheduled to perform.
