Tips on Missing Indiana University Student From NY Still Coming 3 Years After Disappearance

Lauren Spierer vanished on June 3, 2011, after a night out with friends

Investigators continue to get tips about the mysterious disappearance of an Indiana University student from Westchester who vanished after a night of partying with friends at her college campus three years ago.

The Bloomington Police Department say the most recent tip about Lauren Spierer came in Thursday. The department said Monday it has received 282 tips about her in the past year and that investigators "remain hopeful that someone with knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Lauren's disappearance will do the right thing by stepping up and contacting our agency."

The Greenburgh, N.Y., native disappeared early on June 3, 2011, after a night of partying with friends in Bloomington. No criminal charges have ever been filed in the disappearance.

Spierer's mother, Charlene, posted a remembrance on a Facebook page dedicated to the search on Wednesday, recalling how kind and loving her daughter was.

"I couldn't begin to tell you what I miss the most about Lauren," the mother wrote. "She is always with me. I cannot think of her without the physical pain that wells up just before the tears begin to flow."

Charlene Spierer also pleaded for anyone who knew what happened to her daughter to come forward.

"Someone knows the truth and has the answers we desperately seek," she said. "If you have any information please contact us."

Anyone with information about the case can contact the Bloomington Police Department at (812) 339-4477.
