A clerk at a kosher liquor store in Brooklyn has been shot and killed while trying to stop a gunman from taking a woman's jewelry.
Police say man was shot in the chest and arm Thursday night at the MB Vineyards on Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush.
Residents said 34-year-old Yoseph Robinson had recently converted to Judaism and enjoyed telling customers about his spiritual journey.
More than 100 people from the Orthodox and Hasidic neighborhood gathered outside the liquor store to pay their respects.
Abandoning a life of crime, drug deals and violence, Robinson, a former reggae artist and music exec, in his own bio on YouTube describes how he surrendered control and accepted humility through his new found faith.
Friend Wahaba Wallace says she found her soulmate in Robinson. "From the time we met i feel like we were together every day."
She was in the store with Robinson and a cousin when the gunman came in.
"He jumped over the counter, and um, they struggled by the door for the gun, he told me to go, i ran to the back of the shop and.. i heard the shots," said Wallace.
"He came in for trinkets and he took the most important thing out of that store."
The gunman is still at large, but police have released security camera footage in hopes that the public may be of some help in locating the killer.
In addition, a $12,000 reward is being offered by the NYPD for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

He is described as being a light-skinned male, 5'6" to 5'8", 160lbs and was last seen wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and a tan mask, police said.
