A police chase ended with a man getting arrested after trying to evade them in the Bronx Wednesday, authorities said.
The driver of a black Dodge Magnum was speeding down 161st Street with police on his heels. They surrounded the car near Sheridan Avenue when he ran into a delivery truck and pinned himself in.
Eyewitnesses say police hit the car with batons to break the windows when the driver tried backing up.
The driver was pulled out of the car and arrested, authorities said.
The incident happened in front of the Bronx Criminal Court building.
It is not clear why police were chasing the car.
"It just seems silly to me. If you're going to try to evade the police why would you go in front of criminal court," said Ann Graham, a witness.
