A car exiting a garage reversed across two lanes of traffic and into a deli in the Bronx Tuesday evening, sending pedestrians on the business-lined street scattering, including one woman who narrowly missed being hit, police and witnesses said.
The silver BMW SUV was leaving a garage on East Tremont Street when it suddenly backed all the way across the street and slammed into the Garden Gourmet Deli, according to witness Richard Roman.
"He claims from the parking lot, he went all the way down here, hit the store," said Roman.
Deli owner Al Gazali said his brother was standing on the other side of that glass, and items from a shelf toppled over and fell on top of him.
"He couldn't breathe and his neck was hurting him," he said.
Another person had minor injuries, police said.
The SUV driver was not hurt and cooperated with police on the scene.

"Thank God nothing happened to us or these people," said Gazali.
