Prosecutors say they've finally solved the 2003 murder of a nine months pregnant Brooklyn woman.
They charged Lamethia McCollum's boyfriend Friday with second-degree murder and weapon possession.
A spokeswoman says state law didn't allow them to charge Jefferson Jones with the baby's death.
The 41-year-old is jailed without bail and faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
His attorney did not immediately return a message.
District Attorney Kenneth Thompson says investigators cracked the case after discovering the handgun used by Jones in a 2012 crime matched the weapon in the McCollum killing.
McCollum's 8-year-old daughter discovered her dead on a bedroom floor in their Flatlands apartment with two gunshot wounds to the head.
