Officials say a suburban New York City elementary school has shut off its drinking water sources due to lead concerns.
The George M. Davis Jr. Elementary School sent a letter to parents Monday stating that drinking water at the New Rochelle school was shut off over the weekend as a precaution. Bottled water and coolers will be provided.
The school says district consultants think a recent water system flushing may have circulated "potential problems" that were previously isolated.
Several fountains and sinks were shut off after tests in late March revealed high lead levels in some of the school's water sources.
