Escaped NJ Prisoner Captured: Authorities

A prisoner who escaped while being transported to a county jail in New Jersey was captured Sunday, authorities said.

Michael Mimms was arrested early Saturday by Willingboro Township Police Officers for being wanted out of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, on unspecified charges, police said. He was also charged with unlawfully possessing a handgun.

Mimms was being transported to the Burlington County Jail, when at approximately 8 a.m. he managed to get away from the transporting officer and escape into downtown Mount Holly Township.

At the time of his escape, Mimms was handcuffed to a transport belt and was last seen wearing a multi-colored shirt, shorts and brown socks with no shoes.

Willingboro police said early Sunday night that they had Mimms in custody. The provided no details about his capture
